Method in madness?

This photograph of the cable course around the corner of a construction block interested me. Prompts the question why feed the cable ‘through’ the corner rather than ‘around’?

• Lazy,… not likely since it probably take more effort to drill through the corner than to pin the cable around the corner.

• Bending radius of the cable,… a possible reason, in general the minimum bending radius is nominally six (6) times the cable's overall diameter, however the cable could be an optic fibre cable, in this case the normal recommendation minimum bend radius is 10 times the cable diameter.

• The installer had no 90o conduit elbows in the van,… a possibility yet the conduit could have been extended and mitred.
